A Filled Weekend

This weekend was good. It was my 9/80 Friday, so I got three days off this time.

FRIDAY
I spent the first part of the day making a roof mount for my Hi-Lift jack on the Hummer. A few people posted on the Club Hummer Off Road forum some clever methods for doing this. A 1/2" carriage bolt fits perfectly into the channel for the roof rack rails. I went down to Lowes and bought a bunch of stainless steel hardware along with some rubber stoppers and put together a simple yet sturdy mount.

The night was finished up with a trip to the movies to see Transformers 2 on the IMAX screen. I enjoyed all the effects, but it was very much like watching the first. Not much of a plot, but the IMAX made the visuals and sound very enjoyable.

SATURDAY
Ellen took our friend Rene out for cruise up the coast to Malibu in the Solstice. The weather has been so nice along the water, still in the seventies!

They took in some sights on the way, like the canals in Venice (California).

What did I do for that seven plus hour stretch? I played Bioshock! I am getting close to the end, finally. The plot has totally sucked me in.

SUNDAY
We took our time getting up and moving. Had breakfast at Denny's and lounged for a while. I did some more work on my computer rack, making room for yet another Macintosh I recently acquired. I will have pics later. We spent the afternoon over at Ellen's folks for some time in the pool. We finished the night with dinner at Spires.

Recently, my parents found the invoices from the custom software I wrote back when I was in high school. I even had a sample of the mailing labels still around. I scanned them in for your viewing pleasure.

Happy Fourth

Ellen planned one of the best weekend trips. Since I had a four-day weekend, Ellen made plans for a short vacation in San Diego.

Thursday
We started driving down late in the morning. I kept the speed down and just enjoyed the drive. We arrived in Kearny Mesa and kicked back for a few before hitting the swimming pool. We finished the evening with an awesome meal at The Butcher Shop and watching TV.

Friday
We got together with my friend Jeff (aka GodOBiscuits from redvsblue.com) and Melissa, a good friend and coworker from my workplace, to meet-up at Legoland.

It was amazing to see the level of detail in the sculptures . . . all done with legos!

It was also awesome to see Jeff and Melissa building with Legos. They are NOT just for kids!

We later all went down to Torrey Pines Gliderport to watch the paragliders and hanggliders soar around.

All this excitement was followed-up with some great Bar-B-Q from Phil's BBQ.

Saturday
Ellen and spent the day by ourselves. We roamed around Balboa Park and spent some time in a few of the museums.

We decided to head back to Legoland since our passes were good for two days. We got to see a lot that we missed on the first pass. I even got a chance to go back to buy more Legos in bulk.

We stuck around for the fireworks as well.

Sunday
We drove back early to beat the traffic and relaxed for the rest of the day.

What a perfect weekend!
